Just took this camping, but was absolutely blown away! It was so easy to set up, clean, and cook all of our meals for the two nights we were out.
I was able to easily cook eggs, burgers, bacon, sausages, and with the dual side temp, I could also toast the buns, while I grilled some veggies. I had no issues in cooking or with the non’stick aspect while we were out and about, and the preseasoning worked like a charm. I am sure for how much cleaning I did, I will have to re-season it soon, but for something to work this well right out of the box, I was so impressed. If you have used cast-iron or stainless steel, this will be easy to pick up, and everything tastes amazing.
With all of that in mind, you need to know how to use cast iron/Blackstone in order to really appreciate this set up. With improper use, especially the first time, you can easily ruin the patina, and then have to re-season it while you are out in the wilderness, which is not ideal. I would not recommend this to someone who just wants to try a Blackstone. Get used to cast iron, know what the temp feels to have the leidenfrost effect take place, and know how much oil you need to make it “non stick”.

Liked the grill. I agree with the lid and grease trap design flaw but that is not too bad once you know it. I do have an issue that for some reason the right igniter has failed. This is after ~60 days.

I have used once. First seasoned it with the Blackstone seasoning product. Then did potatoes & Onions on one side and burgers on the other/./ Burgers were suggested by ChatGPT for a first time to enhance the seasoning of the grill. Expected things to be just OK for the first time and getting used to cooking on a griddle, but all turned out really well. Easy to store. The provided storage bag works great and holds all of the griddle accessories I bought: 2 spatulas, scraper, water bottle, egg rings, etc.

This is our first ever Blackstone and I’m impressed. It was easy enough to set up and cook with. The griddle surface, as opposed to a grill, seems like it will be useful. We plan to take it camping and I love the possibilities this gives us. The quick coupler for the propane means we can use it with our camper without having to carry a separate tank, but we can still use it just as easily at home.
I saw all of the poor reviews for the “design flaw” that you cannot hang the lid while using the grease tray. My response is that there are plenty of places that sell the 22 inch griddle with the hinged lid, generally for $60-70 more. You could probably add hinges (the holes are already there) if it is that big of a deal to you. It is just as easy to set the lid aside while cooking.
If I have any complaint it is that the griddle is too big and heavy for what we need. We bought it so we can take it with us camping and would have been just as happy with the smaller 17 inch. Pricewise this one doesn’t cost much more and includes the lid and carry case.
When I first fired up the griddle using a tank it either wouldn’t light, or wouldn’t get warm after I got it to light. It worked using one pound cylinders, though. We swapped tanks and it worked fine. It seems that the first tank just didn’t have enough pressure to operate it, so if you have trouble getting it to light, just try a different tank.
With the new tank it got hot quickly. I was able to identify some not as hot areas on the surface. It was easy to cook on, I was able to drop the heat low enough to cook our hamburgers all the way through without burning them. We had four on one side but it could easily fit more. likely 12 across the entire surface. We used the other half to brown the buns and cook other things.
We ordered other accessories but don’t have them yet. I bought a silicone mat that might be easier to clean, but doesn’t have an opening for the grease tray. I ordered a couple of hoses, one for the quick coupler on our camper and another for the tank. We want to buy a folding stand in the future but can use the table at our campsite. I love that there are accessories to buy, most grills don’t have that.

The Griddle surface works pretty well. Have problems with lid. It should have been designed with hinges. The rear grease trap gets in the way. I find it best to put the lid down when cooking because I believe in the slow cooking method.

I see the complaints about the lid and recognize the complaints are coming from people who have not cooked in a windy environment. The lid is designed to hang from the back or either side.
